Title: Stakeholder Analysis as Viewed by Social Network Theory

    Presenter: Edward Cook

Skill Level: Advanced (5+ years of Change Management Experience)

    Track: Harnessing Collaborative Disciplines

    Description:

Stakeholders can be viewed as a social network with all the influences and human interactions that would happen in any social network, like Facebook. I’ll describe how to analyze the network using a free plug-in tool for Excel called NodeXL. I’ll also describe the psychological impacts on a social network and how to manage them to help the network function well. All of this is based on the course I teach on analytics in the business school at the University of Richmond. This is one of the more popular class days because the tools are easy to learn but provide interesting often unexpected insights into human behavior!

    Bio:

Ed began his career as a Naval Aviator flying the C-2A, Greyhound achieving over 750 aircraft carrier landings. After leaving the active Navy, Ed worked for both Corning and Capital One as an analyst and executive. In 2007, Ed was mobilized and sent to Baghdad, Iraq where, as CDR Cook, he worked for Gen. David Petraeus on employment initiatives and the banking system. Ed was awarded the Bronze Star.  Ed is the president of The Change Decision LLC, a team performance consultancy which seeks to create Joy at Work by blending the science of Decision Analysis with the art of Change Management.  Ed holds a Ph.D. in decision analytics.

      Learning Objectives:

      • Know how to create a network analysis using NodeXL
      • Understand how to analyze the network to understand stakeholder behavior
      • Learn the techniques to manage the behaviors to create a stronger functioning stakeholder group
      • Learn how to use non-financial incentives effectively to motivate change progress

Title: Facilitation and the Role it Plays in Change Management

      Presenter: Julie Miller

Skill Level: *Beginner* (0-3 Years of Change Management Experience)

Track: Change Leadership & Critical Change Competencies

      Description:

Effective facilitation is a game changer, and as the facilitator you can have an enormous impact. Having the opportunity to be in a meeting led by a skilled facilitator can be a real gift to any participant. They can make a long day go by quickly, diffuse heated conversations (and we know there are tough conversations that happen around change management), and make you wonder how you accomplished all the deliverables laid out at the beginning with all these "tough" personalities in the room.

But what exactly is a facilitator, and how do we learn the magic? I’ll cover the definition of a facilitator, share the meeting checklist I use, and discuss ways to identify your disruptors, armed with tactics to diffuse them. With this combination of steps, your change management meetings will be productive, viewed as a beneficial use of time, and they will want to know your magic and how you did it. Use it wisely though, when people find a great facilitator they will want you to play that role again and, hopefully, they will also spread the word that your meetings are fun and effective, and that they won't groan when the next invite comes through.

      Bio:

Julie Miller is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt, and Prosci Change Management trainer with a unique educational background. Julie has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin in Mechanical Engineering and Master of Science from the University of Wisconsin in Organizational Behavior. This unconventional mix allows her to customize her sessions specifically to match the make-up of her audience, capabilities of her participants, and the needs of the culture to support the change. Julie has established Strategic Planning, Lean, Six Sigma, Change Management, and PMO at multiple organizations, creating the structure, training, and culture for success. Julie served as a Master Black Belt mentor and lead trainer for multiple cycles of Lean Six Sigma, Prosci Change Management, and Project Management. Her 20+ years of problem solving has led her to be recognized as one of the 40 New Voices of Quality by the American Society of Quality.

        Learning Objectives:

        • Clear definition of what a facilitator is, and what it is not
        • Become a prepared facilitator by understanding your responsibilities before, during, and after the event
        • Make your meetings a fun and effective use of time for all participants
        • Be able to identify your disruptors, and be armed with tactics to diffuse them

Title: The New Age of Change Management is Change Enablement

          Presenter: Krista Schaber-Chan

Skill Level: Intermediate (3-5 Years of  Change Management Experience)

Track: Change Leadership & Critical Change Competencies

          Description:

What is change enablement and how can it be used to transform businesses today? How does the changing workforce and pace of change impact leaders and what do they need to do to lead their people through a transformation? In this webinar we will explore the role of a leader in today’s business transformations, specifically in how to engage the changing workforce, identify informal change leaders, and conquer failures. Real life lessons learned will be shared and we will also look at new ways of thinking about change management.

          Bio:

Krista possesses more than 20 years of OCM and training experience, having worked at two of the top consulting firms, Price Waterhouse Coopers and IBM, with an enhanced focus on IT projects and people management. During this time, she spent many years working in various cities around the world such as Singapore; Apeldoorn; Stuttgart; Baltimore, MD; Princeton, NJ; Trenton, NJ; San Francisco, CA; Durham, NC; Vancouver; and Calgary. After spending more than a decade as an independent consultant, she made the strategic decision to create her own consulting firm, Harbinger SCR Inc., in 2015 with a fellow change management and training expert, Gregory Roth, and hasn’t looked back since. With just over four years under their belts, they have collectively grown Harbinger into one of the leading Canadian-owned change management and learning firms that has had the pleasure of working with some of North America’s top corporations including Direct Energy and RSA.

            Learning Objectives:

            • Leadership change enablement tips: How to identify informal change leaders, the art of letting go, active listening and observation, letting go of fear, and conquering failures.
            • The evolution of change management to change enablement.
            • Understanding the intricacies of the today’s workforce demographics including the emergence of Gen Z’s, increase of Millennials, and how to lead them through change.
